Telugu star producer Dil Raju will bankroll this project which will be made with a whooping budget of 180 crs. Indian 2 will be formally launched in Kamal Hassan’s TV Show Bigg Boss Tamil.
The production house Sri Venkateswara Creations made this announcement through their official Twitter handle, “Delighted to be associated with two stalwarts of Indian Cinema @ikamalhaasan and @shankarshanmugh for the prestigious project #Indian2”. The film will go on floors by April 2018.
With Kamal Haasan openly stating that he is into politics over the last few weeks and will give his full time very soon, it is the right time for him to make ‘Indian 2’. It is, however, unclear if the film is a new story or continuation of the 1996 thriller, which was about patriotism and fighting corruption.
Indian was one of the biggest hits of that time. Kamal Hassan played dual roles in the movie and it bagged three national awards including the best actor honour for Kamal. The film had music of AR Rahman and it was also released in Telugu as ‘Bharatheeyudu’ and in Hindi as ‘Hindustani’.
