Satellite rights is a big turning point for the filmmakers these days. Few films gets 15 to 25 crs easily before the release while, few struggles to gain a good amount even after the release. In this time, when almost every movie make their way to Small Screens within 4-5 months after their Theatrical release, here is one biggie which couldn’t get telecasted even after 2 years of it’s release.
We are talking about histrocial-epic Rudhramadevi which released on October 9th 2015. This Anushka Shetty and Allu Arjun starrer is going to have it’s Telugu World Television Premiere on Oct 15th 2017. The reason for this much delay is said to be the reluctance of director-producer Gunasekhar in selling the satellite rights as he wasn’t being offered the amount he was expecting. One expects a movie starring Anushka Shetty, Allu Arjun and Rana Daggubati with Mega Star’s voice over will be able to get a bumper price for the satellite rights but Guna sekhar had to wait for two years to make a good deal out of it.
Well, finally ETV came on board and grabbed the satellite rights of this magnum opus for a decent price. The movie had faced a long delay in the Theatrical release too. Though, it was planned to release in March 2015 but finally hit screens in October 2015. Upon release, the film got good response for both audience and critics. Gunasekhar got widely appreciation for his fresh storytelling. The film collected good revenues at the box-office but the budget was too high so the movie ended up as a average grosser.
Rudhramadevi was also released in Hindi, Tamil and Malyalam. The Hindi version satellite rights were acquired by Zee Network. It was telecasted just after 3-4 months on Zee Cinema. Now the film will be having it’s Telugu version premiere, we need to see how the film perform on the small screen after so much delay.
