On this Christmas season, two major Telugu movies, Nani’s MCA (Middle Class Abbayi) and Akhil Akkineni’s Hello, were released. While MCA got mixed response from the critics and audience, Hello movie was highly praised by the critics. The movie even got a thumbs up from the audience but that didn’t helped the film to achieve good box-office numbers. On the other hand, despite of getting average reviews, MCA faired extremely well at the ticket window and with this movie, Nani has added one more hit in his kitty.
MCA worldwide theatrical rights were valued at Rs 30 crore and the film has collected a worldwide share of 35.2 crore in 12 days while the total worldwide gross stands at whooping 60 crore. MCA has also crossed the $1 Million mark at the USA box-office and it is the third consecutive film of Nani after Nenu Local and Ninnu Kori to achieve this phenomenal feat. MCA has been declared a super hit venture at the box-office.
On the other hand, after taking a below average start, Hello failed to show some needed growth over the weekend. And in weekdays, the film’s collections dropped miserably. Hello has minted a disappointing worldwide share of Rs 16.70 crore in 11 days which is just around half of it’s 33 crore investment in theatrical rights. With the holiday period getting over, the film will end up it’s run at the distributor share of maximum 18 crore. Hello is yet another huge disaster for Akhil Akkineni after his debut movie Akhil : The Power Of Jua.
