It’s a well known fact that Akshay Kumar completes his movies in superfast speed and he gets 3-4 releases in every year for sure. Akshay’s movies comes within a short gap of just three or four months but this time he is going to release his two movies in a gap of just 1 day. Well, this might be a surprising news for you but it is fact.
Both, the ambitious magnum opus 2.0 and Padman, based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham will be released on the same Republic Day weekend next year. 2.0 will hit screens on Jan 25th while Padman wll release on Jan 26th, just a day after 2.0. Padman was earlier scheduled for April 2018 release but Akshay Kumar himself announced few days ago that now the movie will release on Jan 26th. Ever since Akshay made this announcement, the news has been circulating in social media that why Akshay Kumar has pre-poned the release of Padman and coincide with the release of 2.0.
A source close to the film’s unit reveals, “There are three reasons why Akshay decided to clash with himself on Republic Day. First, both 2.0 and Padman audience and content is far different from each other. Secondly, Akshay doesn’t really see 2.0 as his film. It’s Superstar Rajinikanth’s film and if it becomes a blockbuster, all the credit for it’s success will go to Rajini, whereas Padman is an out and out Akshay’s film. Lastly, Akshay wants to make sure all his films release in the weekend of either Republic Day or Independence Day. He is working towards ensuring all his films release during these two holiday weekends, as they go well with his image. Akshay has even booked the Independence Day weekend for his film ‘Gold’.”
