1. Suriya is not his real name

Suriya was born on 23rd July 1975. His original name is Saravanan Sivakumar. He was given the name Suriya by director Mani Ratnam so that his name would not clash with the actor Saravanan.

2. Graduate in commerce

Suriya studied in The PSBB Millennium School for his secondary education. He passed out from St. Bede’s Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School. Suriya has done Bachelor of Commerce from Loyola College, Chennai.

3. Marriage

Suriya married actress Jyothika in 2006, after having been together for couple of years. Suriya-Jyothika are one of the most cutest celebrity couples of Indian film industry. They have 2 children.

4. Suriya is a philanthropist

Suriya does a lot of philanthropist work. Suriya is the co-founder of Angaram Foundation. The Angaram Foundation tries to rehabilitate children who drop out of school in Tamil Nadu for financial or any other issues. Suriya is also a part of The Saving Tiger Movement.
